i'd been listening to the programme since i was a middle school student, and i'm in the university now.
i still can feel the great happiness i felt that time when maggie read my letter~ still remember the loverly cat PiGu~
and the little little studio where you were recording HFB...
as years go by, i can't find u from 101.7. what i had to do was only to get used to it. and i am now.
but i've just see the letter which brain write in 2001 from a bbs where have lots of fans of HFB, that really makes me feel shocked and angry!~!!
how are you brian? i learnt from the website that u had an operation last year, so you are all right now, right? you are one of the most important dj to me and some of my friends, and more than that, one dj once said that you were one important person to shanghai east radio in changing the style of the djs. so, you see, we really really , won't forget you. and i long for listening to ur voice so much, also it seems like a far far away dream...
and, what about maggie?
your interesting voice was once the topic of my friends and i...
i write this, just because i what u to know, in shanghai, there are stil lots of fans like me who will think of you two and HFB sometime.
...
best wishes

hangzhou, China - Saturday, August 02, 2003 at 17:28:32 (BST)I am a Chinese student at University of Tokyo,Japan,I still love your radio programm since 1993,while I was working at shanghai for several months.
It is the time for me to decide whether I should go back to China, esp., to work,or stay in Japan,This news hurt me deeply that my country is still not a grown up nation with good rules.Althought I always express my proud of Shanghai' economic miracals and internationalization,in face of so severe japanese prejedis.
The GDP per capita of Shanghai ,is about $4800 this year, and 14 percent annuale economic growth rate, why most of the goverment officals still act an way of underdevelopement tribes leaders, all thought the economic ranking of shanhai, may be among the emerging countries No.30-40th,(UNDP,and World bank,World develpment report,Human development report,Rankings)
but the free media and press ranking, like China averge,No.58 among 102 nations (Data Available,Freedom house.com),be in the group of some poorest african nations still in civil war,
Should I stay in Japan working as an 2nd class citizen or back to Shanghai in face of the tragedies made by some Chinese officials?
Please respect the rules of the game, esp.,some tribe leaders who made a fortune in power or in business.

杭州, 中国 - Wednesday, July 09, 2003 at 09:41:33 (BST)Hi,Brian :) How are you? This is Jason here, I used to be a loyal audience of HFB when I was in college in Shanghai, It SO different than most of the other radio programs in China that I was deeply attracted by it at the first time I tuned in! Ever since then listening to your show became my routine. You know,it's such a pleasure to lay down in the bed, turn on the radio, enjoy your HFB and relax. And I always thought the program is not long enough. Hello from Britain has become one of my most wonderful memories of Shanghai City and guess what, I came to Britain after my graduation! Now I can listen to British radios every day but I still miss HFB, I miss the time when HFB is with me. Can't believe that they shut down such a beloved program, nowonder it disappeared in 2001(I thought it was just a short break, but it never came back). Until today I happend to be brought to this website do I realize what happened to HFB. I am truely sorry about that and do hope HFB will come back to Shanghai some day. At last, hope you will recover soon and Good Luck to you and all the HFB people!

Auckland, New Zealand - Monday, May 12, 2003 at 12:01:59 (BST)Hi all. have read through the guest book, there are few words i have to say here.
“Note from Brian..... “No War” I wonder if you really understand the situation Steel Lu.....after all in China it is YOU who also live with a government that you did not choose and cannot oppose.” Do you know Brian, how many people from how many nations opposed the war? It is tough that Chinese government drove you out of business, however, there is no call to give up your humanity here. U.S. and U.K. governments are powerful and resourceful enough to find someone to murder Sadam, however, they chose to let people suffer. Millions of dollars are spent on magnificent “fireworks show”.
“I repeat that the Iraqi people and the World will be better off when the EVIL Sadam Hussein is dead.
“Is he really dead? How can you be sure? Is war the only way to deal with it? Do you think U.S. and U.K. governments will help Iraqi people rebuild their home for free? Do you think us govt will let Iraqi people live their own happy life after the war? Violence will only lead to hatred and betrayal, do you really know the situation or just speak emotionally.
There are many ways to go forward, revenge and violence should be deployed carefully. Besides, for Chinese government, not all the decision they made are wrong, it’s not perfect, but making progress slowly. Comparing to years ago, the government now is a lot better. You might have your chances in the future. The reason people (including me) like you and your program is that your style of presenting the program is amusing and relaxing. We feel that you are a positive person and have good expectations in life. Those people in the Shanghai Dong Fang Radio Station once highly praised your contribution to the local industry in another radio show. One person let you down doesn’t mean all will do the same. Besides, one person’s taste differs from another. Don’t give up your good personality and perspectives just because the frustration you suffer now.
You were giving people joy, now you are giving people hatred.
Why don’t you Brian, give people motivation instead, make yourself a model, motivated and encouraged, start things over after the free fall in your life? Why don’t you prove to people that you are an excellent foreign friend to shanghai audients, show them that you love them as much as they love you?
For the cancellation of your program, the reason stated was that Maggie doesn’t speak good mandarin. Can she be the advocator of the Chinese culture, pay some effort to improve that? There is never too late to learn and to improve oneself. I speak English in four different accents fluently and I wouldn’t mind if need to pick a few more when in other countries. Can Maggie do the same? At least, Chinese is her mother tongue, it shouldn’t be as hard as I learn English as a second language.
In the other hand, do business in other country is hard. I can remember how many times I got frustrated because of UK government’s policies towards foreigners (esp. citizens of People’s Republic of China), do you think I should tell Brits that their government is rubbish?
Please stay positive and if failed, try, try and try again.
Anyways, hope to hear good new from you soon.

Beijing, China - Monday, April 28, 2003 at 13:55:50 (BST)
但愿我们的政府:“by the people, for the people”。 S

Shanghai, China - Saturday, April 19, 2003 at 10:20:20 (BST)

Las Vegas, US - Thursday, April 17, 2003 at 21:45:35 (BST)

Beijing, China - Thursday, April 17, 2003 at 08:23:17 (BST)我不接受<右翼>的称号.

Brian,

Shanhgai, Chnia - Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at 14:38:33 (BST)
